Meet Our City Council
The City Council is composed of a Mayor and six Councilors, elected from the city at large. Elections are conducted on a non-partisan basis, and each member is elected to serve a 4-year term. Following an election, the Council will elect a President to conduct the meeting in the absence of the Mayor.
Each member of the Council is also appointed as a liaison to an external committee, commission, or board, such as the Planning Commission or Diversity Advisory Committee. These appointments are updated each January following an election.
The City Council meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings begin at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers of Ontario City Hall. If a second Council meeting is needed, it will be held on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Further, the Council conducts study sessions on the Thursday prior to a Council meeting, to discuss items on the agenda. These sessions begin at 6:00 P.M., and are also held in the Council Chamber of City Hall.

2019-2023 Strategic Plan
In February 2019, City Council held a Strategic Planning Meeting to identify City priorities and create a list of strategies and activities to achieve the goals associated with each priority. The Strategic Plan was used extensively during the development of the 2019-2023 Budget to match priorities with funding.
City Council reviewed the plan in January 2020 to make additions for the upcoming budget. The City will once more budget according to these priorities. Below are the five major goals in the plan.
