Purpose
Established under the direction of the chief of police, the (OPDCAC) provides insights and recommendations to the police chief, in-order to enhance Ontario’s police-community partnership. The advisory council will work in partnership with the chief of police to seek solutions for a variety of community concerns and to seek out new opportunities to improve the quality of life in Ontario.

The chief seeks to select individuals from a diverse personal and professional background, desires a gender and age diverse group, and is looking for individuals with passion for community governance and the development of others and community.
Role of the advisory council
Advisory council members will serve as collective advisors to the chief of police and will not be considered an oversight committee. The chief of police will select council members based on their individual talents, skills, and ability to work professionally and well with others. All advisory council members must embrace diversity, objectivity and maintain reverence for all laws.
Structure of the advisory council
The advisory council will be comprised of at least 9-11 volunteer members from within the Ontario community, selected by the chief of police based on the principles of positive community building. The advisory council shall not engage in any form of political activity or discourse while acting in the capacity of an advisory counselor for the chief of police.
Commitment of advisory council members
While still to be determined, it is recommended that the chief of police and advisory council meet on a calendar quarterly basis at a venue and time that accommodates the members of the advisory council. However, sanctions will not be imposed on any member that is unable to attend a scheduled meeting. The chief of police will retain the authority to remove any member from the council, “At-Will,” for any reason determined by the chief of police.
