What is it?
The City of Ontario created a Security Grant Program as part of its Strategic Plan goals, which include growth and a focus on supporting the business climate. In 2021, a $25,000 grant fund was established to help local businesses improve physical security. In 2025 the budget committee has recommended increasing the maximum grant amount from $500 to $1,000. The program aims help businesses improve physical security and deter crime in commercial areas.
Eligibility:
Approved projects must follow program guidelines and be reviewed by the City’s grant panel.
Eligible activities include security systems like cameras, motion sensors, and panic buttons.
Ineligible activities include firearms and cybersecurity tools.
Guidelines and applications for the program are posted below. Applications will be reviewed on a first come, first serve basis. Applications can be turned in or mailed to City Hall. Eligibility:
- Owners of commercial buildings in designated zones (C-1, C-2, C-2H, C-3, CD, PF, and complexes with 10+ units)
- Must be within city limits
- Mass gathering sites may be considered with Council approval
