We are very excited to receive notification that we were awarded the $20,000 wayfinding grant from Travel Oregon. Travel Oregon released the complete list of projects awarded by the program, which totaled $470,000 in matching grant funding for organizations around the state for local tourism projects.
The grant funds will be used for a city wayfinding project. Wayfinding creates a system of branded signage that connects community members and visitors with prominent places within Ontario. This project is part of the Beautification Goal in the Ontario City Council Strategic Plan. You can view the full press release here. Eighteen years after the attacks of September 11, 2001, the community joined together to honor the heroes, victims, and survivors of that day. Ontario Fire & Rescue, Ontario Police Department, and Treasure Valley Paramedics hosted the event at City Hall. Chief Leighton, Chief Romero, and Mayor Hill were among those who spoke.
DHS has a new high priority hiring surge dedicated to immediately filling more than 300 positions related to the Child Welfare Division of the Department of Human Services. This effort is part of Governor Kate Brown’s Executive Order No. 19-03, which is aimed at improving Oregon’s child welfare system to better serve our most vulnerable children and families.
