The City of Ontario will have three City Council seats become vacant at the completion of the 2020 calendar year. The terms run for four (4) years, with a term of service expiring in December 2024. Each position requires residency within the Ontario city limits for a minimum of one year, voter registration in the City of Ontario, and applicant cannot be currently holding any other publicly elected position.
The City Council meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall. A second meeting may be called by Council. Further, there is a Council Work Session the Thursday 12 days prior to meetings beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of City Hall. If you are interested in running for City Council, please pick up the elections packet from Tori Barnett, MMC, City Recorder/Elections Official, 444 SW 4th Street, Ontario, Oregon, 97914. Packets can also be mailed if requested. Closing date for submitting completed candidacy forms is 5:00 p.m., August 25, 2020. Eligible candidates will appear on the November 3, 2020 ballot. Elected candidates will be sworn into office at the first meeting in January, 2021.
