The City Recorder is the Clerk of the City Council. She is responsible for elections, the City Charter, records management, preparing City Council agendas, transcribing minutes, retaining accompanying documentation, and processing city documents, including updates to the Ontario Municipal Code. She serves as the custodian of official city records and public documents by cataloging, scanning, and filing city records. She administers city-wide record management and retention programs, and maintains storage of records.
This department can be contacted for copies of minutes, resolutions, ordinances, official City of Ontario codes, and items relating to business within the city. This department is currently in the process of placing public records on an imaging system for retention and extraction, in accordance with the Oregon State Archives Division.
The City Recorder also works with the Cemetery Department for the issuance and archiving of Cemetery Deeds and records for Evergreen and Sunset Cemeteries.
